Milan Fashion week part 3

It's been a busy but funny week, full of interesting facts and news. My lovely friend Ingrid posted a few photos of streetstyle pics she took during fashion week onto the Marieclaire Uk website so you can find me in there, dressed in a black high waisted skirt, grey jersey tee and draped black jersey scarf. Here's the link!

Yesterday me and my friend Umberto went to the White show, a 3 days exhibition which takes place in Milan during fashion week and allows press and buyers to get in contact and start knowing young designers and new labels. My personal favourite one is Vivetta right now (and i'm going to post an interview i made with her very soon...she'll be showing her collection from 2nd to the 5th of october at Rendez-vous in Paris) and she's been super kind and sweet and i have to thank her for giving us the invitations and the chance to snap some photos while there.
here they are:

And last but not least here it is me looking like a japanese girl during the models fittings...always sporting a tape measure wrapped around my wrist all the time! It's all for now but i promise to write more updates soon! I still haven't written anything about the Jil sander and the Marni show...those 2 were the shows i was most excited to see.

Busy day

Ok, here are some photos i took today during our press day. I had to wake up at 5.15 to be at work at 6.30 (normally i have to start at 9 a.m) 'cause we had to supervise on the makeupartists and hairdressers and explain the dressers what to do. I usually go by bike and love to ride it through the park in the morning to get to work, but since it was so early the sky was all adark and the whole atmosphere on my way to work was a bit surreal.
Some photos taken in the backstage:

The presentation:

finally something to eat after all the efforts we made:

Milan fashion week part 2

Ok, basically today we had the pressday to presnet our ss 2010 collection to the journalists, fashion editors, stylists, etc. Meanwhile there were other 2 relevant shows taking place in Milan. The first is the Gianfranco Ferrè one, designed by Aquilano & Rimondi (ex 6267). and, even if sometimes i don't lik ethe too much scupltured clothes they design, i must admit they made a good use of organza and chiffon this time, creating some interesting looks.

And the Alberta Ferretti's one was also rich in delicate tones, light fabrics, feminine and ethereal dresses with laser cuts (or embroidered) layers on. And i loved that. The worst part of the AF show were the printed dresses..i'm not a fan of floral prints or vertical striped printed clothes. Anyway, these 3 looks can surely catch my attention 'cause of the softness of the fabric and the wearability. And i'm going to post another post filled with photos of the backstage and models portraits of our presentation..so keep on visiting Fashion blah blah for updates!

I did a little interview with the lovely Annemiek from mode d'amour. She has a great sense of style which is in my opinion getting better and better everyday so you should check out her blog. Here's just a little sneak peak of her looks for those who don't know her yet.

Milan fashion week

Unfortunately i'm working during this fashion week but it doesn't mean i cannot find the time to get a look at the shows or take photos of the stuff i like. Today we were busy at work putting all the looks together 'cause tomorrow we're gonna host a press-presentation in our showroom (and i'll do my best to snap some pics), but as soon as i got home i couldn't wait to go on internet and have a look at the very much expected Prada show and the Antonio Marras one (who's a designer i admire for the poetry he puts in the clothes he creates).
These are my favourite looks from both shows. Let's start with Prada:

And Antonio Marras:

and now let's talk about the pros and the cons of fashion weeks from an insider's point of view.
Pros:
1-is great to be able to see the clothes you've designed finally ready to be shown to the press and the public.
2-it's really awesome to get the chance to work with a good & talented team 'cause during fashion week you share the emotion and energy of the show with them and you feel paid back and closer to your colleagues. Plus fashion shows are just the end of a long list of sleepless nights and stressful days for you and your colleagues, and weird and funny things always happens when you're tired and sleepless, for example dancing all together, or trying on the wigs the models are going to wear during the show, etc.
3-fashion week also means lots of great parties. And if you're a designer you can get the chance to get invitations from your press office or your designer friends working for other brands. And fashion week's parties usually have an open bar and great djs!
4-It's an amazing opportunity to meet new people and enrich your contacts list. Who know?! One day maybe you'll meet again that fashion editor's assistant you met while sipping a glass of wine.
5-the usually Grey Milan is filled with stylish and well dressed people all running around town, ready to attend the shows.

Cons:
1-You have to be ready for sleepless nights or at least hard waking ups in the morning, 'cause fashion week means you've got to work even more than the usual to be sure every look will look absolutely perfect at the end. So you must prepare yourself to the idea of focusing on the number of available shoes for the outfits, helping the taylor fixing the clothes, etc.
2-you will probably feet a lot fatter than how you usually do. After days of checking models' composits and doing fitting with them trying on looks and watch them getting dressed up or undressed , this will surely make you look at yourself as the least appealin thing on the planet, no matter what you're wearing. So, goodbye self esteem and months of tough diet.
3-You won't get the recognition you're expecting to get for all the hard work you've done. Someone else will. So don't wait for a final satisfaction, it won't come...apart maybe from compliments from your boss or those working with you daily.
